Below started off in the basement of a small boozer but has now enjoyed a great deal of much loved sporadic parties in non-commercial spaces including a Thai restaurant, car parks, disused warehouses, used warehouses, a Vintage Clothes Shop, a 70’s club, cellars, a vegetarian restaurant, drained pools and a strip club.
Below found it’s home at The Rainbow a couple of years ago with its unique courtyard space that had a raw underground feel. Basic lighting, tropical trees and graffitied walls won the vote of the city and indeed the rest of the country with a regular (out of town) crowd. The party takes place on a Sunday daytime and has brought some of the worlds finest DJ’s to Birmingham for the first time.

GUTTER SKANK
Gutter Skank is held on the last Sunday of every month from 3pm till Midnight.
We peddle Asda-price alcohol (beer/spirits from just £1.50), a heavyweight tune selection and a party atmosphere.With two rooms to choose from you can either ease away your Saturday night hangover/comedown or refuse to let go of the weekend and skank hard.
The pub has a more relaxed feel with music like INDIE, SOUL, MOTOWN, REGGAE,OLD SCHOOL HIP-HOP,FUNK, ACOUSTIC etc.
The courtyard on the other hand gets a bit more messy with party vibes galore, because Sunday is still the weekend,don’t you know! Expect to hear genres such as DUBSTEP,OLD SCHOOL GARAGE, ELECTRO, D&B, 90′S R&B ,HIP-HOP,B’MORE and much more fo sure!

DUBMATIC – Fortnightly Thursdays @ The Rainbow & Courtyard…
Dubmatic has been running for one year, originally starting in Kings Heath at the Hare and Hounds pub. They were finally evicted in July 2009, when they moved to their new home at The Rainbow. Their ever-growing Versus Competition, Jungle Vs. Dubmatic sound clashes have proven a great success with Dubstep mosh pits, Jungle madness, crazy skankin and a whole heap of MC madness.
Having brought you DJs such as Dr P, Flux Pavillion, Sukh Knight, Cookie Monsta and Kromestar and soon to bring you Crissy Criss from 1Xtra, DJ Heist, there are many more top name DJs to pass through Rainbows doors, Dubmatic won’t disappoint.
